Spring is the season of new growth. As the newly blooming flowers sleepily turn their heads to the sun, it’s an ideal time to awaken yourself and prepare for the action-packed warmer months ahead.
I’ve chosen to celebrate the calm and potential of Spring with its perfect colour partner: powder blue. Equal parts refreshing and dynamic, powder blue brings a clear, serene quality to any room, not to mention an air of pristine elegance.
In colour psychology blue is the colour of trust, peace, tranquility and relaxation. It’s significant to communication and ideas, too, making it the perfect accent for study or work spaces or common areas used for conversation, like dining and living rooms.
Due to its understated good looks, powder blue matches well with a wide range of colours, particularly pastel ‘Spring’ tones such as pale yellows and pinks, and more ‘natural’ colours like taupes and greys. Its low-key quality makes it incredibly versatile; so experiment a little and you’ll see the variety of ways this subtle-yet-strong colour can make an impact.
I’ve put together an interior mood board of powder blue colour inspirations for this month. I will also be showcasing more on Pinterest with ways to include powder blue in your space. Let me know what you think in the comments. Would love to hear your thoughts on this colour of the month!
