I stumbled across Craig’s art in a magazine and was mesmerized by his amazing style and images. Craig is a Sydney artist who is inspired by topics such as life, death, religious figures along with cricket and roosters – seems quite a mix!
Craig uses oil paints and applies thick paint with a palette knife to create intense portraits and still life images. His work expresses a sense of humour with his often contradictory subject matter.
I love the synergy of colours he uses for all his work. It really characterizes his style and makes his work stand out. You can find out more about his work from his website www.craigwaddell.com. I have attached some of my favourite pieces for you to see.
Down and Dirty, 2004, Oil on Canvas, 150 x 150 cm
Rise of the Rank (after Stuart) 2012, oil on linen, 108 x 76 cm
